FAQ

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FRAME MY PICTURE?

Our standard lead time is 2 - 3 weeks.
Everything we do is hand crafted by us, here in the Faversham workshop. Our standard lead time is 2-3 weeks. However, we recognise that sometimes you just can't wait and also offer a
rush service. If we have everything you need in stock then a few days is not impossible. Complex or hand-painted items may take longer, and at busy times turnaround can be up to 6 weeks - we will advise when you order.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

It is very difficult to give accurate frame costs without seeing the job. Almost every aspect of the frame you choose will have an impact on the price – from the frame itself, to mount colours and styles, glass choices and more.
“I just want a basic frame / your cheapest frame”

We can provide inexpensive, basic frames where needed, but this might be totally unsuitable for your picture! When you come in we will be happy to help you design the perfect frame to suit your art, and your budget.

CAN’T I JUST BUY A CHEAP FRAME SOMEWHERE ELSE?

Yes, of course you can, but you’ve chosen a custom-made frame for a reason.  Bespoke framing protects your art, enables you to choose how YOU would like it displayed, and shows it off at its best. Cheap, mass produced frames are often made from mdf or plastic composites, which are not good for your artwork, or the environment. The vast majority of our frames are made from solid, sustainable wood, using good quality, acid free materials.

SO ARE YOUR FRAMES ECO-FRIENDLY?

Many of our mouldings are made from sustainably sourced wood certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. This means the wood is sourced from a forest that is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability. ALL mouldings come from suppliers who we consider to be ecologically sound. Other materials and processes also follow the principle of treading as gently on the Earth as possible.

DOES THIS MAKE THEM MORE EXPENSIVE?

No.  As understanding of climate issues has spread, so has our recognition of our responsibility as individuals to make better choices. Today, a wide range of FSC approved frames and framing materials are available, at the same cost as less eco-friendly options.

DO YOU OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS?

We offer 10% off for all students, armed forces and NHS / blue light workers. We have affordable options for artists framing their own work, and may be able to negotiate a discount for large orders.

WHAT SORT OF GLASS DO YOU USE?

We offer a range of glass choices to suit your picture or item, and where it will hang.
•    Regular 'float' glass – an basic, all purpose glass.
•    Artglass 70 AR (anti-reflective) – also known as ‘magic’ glass! This incredible glass offers a virtually invisible, anti-reflective surface for truly amazing clarity. It also benefits from 70% UV protection. The most popular customer choice.
•    Artglass 92 AR – magic glass with higher UV protection, for increased protection against light damage, e.g. fading.
•    Museum glass – amazing clarity and uncompromised protection, museum glass is ideal for valuable items, eliminating reflections and blocking up to 99% of UV rays.
We also offer a choice of high quality acrylic glazing, where appropriate.

CAN YOU REPLACE BROKEN GLASS?

We are very happy to replace broken glass in your frames, providing the frame is sound enough to withstand the process. Damaged or cheaply made frames may not be suitable, but we are happy to advise.

CAN YOU JUST CUT ME A MOUNT?

Yes, of course.  We will happily cut mounts to your required size. We can also back and wrap artwork ready for sale.
