BLOCK PRINTING on fabric: CUSHIONS

SUNDAY 19th JULY 10am to 4pm £80 Join us for a full day workshop led by printmaker and textile designer Anne Davison. This session will provide an introduction to block printing on fabric, during which you will design and produce your own cushion cover. You will: • Be introduced to block printing, and look at various sources of inspiration • Plan and carve your linoleum block • Discuss various ways to print your repeating pattern • Test your design on paper, before finally proceeding to print on your cushion cover, or length of fabric. Additionally, Anne has a selection of beautiful vintage Indian carved wood blocks for you to experiment with, and use alongside your own designs. What you'll take away: You will come away from this session with knowledge of the different methods of repeat, the inks involved in printing on fabric and your very own unique hand block printed 50 x 50cm linen cushion cover, or small length of fabric. You'll also have the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring block printing on fabric in your own home or studio. What to bring: • You may like to bring a packed lunch. • Please also bring an apron or wear old clothes. • All other materials included. Suitable for: All skill levels welcome. You may have some experience of printmaking or textile design, and want to build on your skills, but no previous experience of either is required. Your tutor: Anne Davison is a well established textile design artist, with a worldwide spread of clients and collectors. She is also an experienced tutor. We're on the first floor with no lift.
