BOOKBINDING: Batwing Box
SATURDAY 14TH MARCH 10am to 4.30pm The clever design of the Batwing Box means that it opens to form a rectangular tray – perfect for carrying and using a collection of bookbinding tools. We’ll make our boxes using a selection of beautiful papers, sturdy book cloths, and ribbon closures. The Batwing Box was developed by the box maker and bookbinder Bep van Gesteren. We will look at the importance of paper grain and how to assemble and cover your boxes using basic tools. All materials, including paper, board, various decorative papers, bookcloth, and adhesive to make your own uniquely designed boxes are included. Tools are provided for use on the day. You’ll take away your unique box, new skills, and the satisfaction and well-being of a day spent creatively. Creative Courses is a multi-use creative space where you’ll meet new people, learn new skills, and be playful and creative in a relaxed, friendly environment. Tea and coffee, quality teaching, and materials are provided… you just turn up and enjoy your day. There is plenty of parking and the venue is 15 minutes walk from Faversham train station. The workshop is on the first floor of Unit 1C. Unfortuntely, there is no lift.
