Botanical Plate Making
SUNDAY 12th JULY 10am - 12.30pm £45 Celebrate the beauty of the seasons in this hands-on botanical plate making workshop, where clay and wild plants come together to create something truly special and unique. In this relaxed session, you’ll craft your own ceramic plate using seasonal foliage and wildflowers to imprint delicate, natural textures into the clay. Each piece becomes a lasting record of the landscape at that moment in time, a gentle collaboration between your hands and nature. What to expect You’ll be guided step-by-step through: • Shaping and forming your own ceramic plate • Selecting from a curated collection of wild, seasonal plants. You’re also welcome to bring your own if there is something special you would like to incorporate. • Pressing botanical textures and details into the clay • Refining and finishing your design ready for firing Once complete, your plate will be fired in Forest's studio and glazed in a soft oatmeal finish to highlight the intricate plant impressions. The Experience This workshop is designed to be slow, mindful, and welcoming, perfect for beginners and those with creative experience alike. It’s an opportunity to pause, work with your hands, and connect with your senses. What’s Included • All clay, tools, materials, glazing, and firings. • A selection of seasonal wild plants, gathered from our local landscape. • Guidance throughout. Just bring comfortable clothes and a willingness to get creative. Once fired, you’ll have two functional ceramic plates, tactile memories of the season captured in clay. Your tutor: Forest is a botanical potter and ceramics tutor based in Faversham. Her practice is guided by the wild plants of each season, gathered from local hedgerows, meadows, and woodlands and pressed into clay to preserve their fleeting forms. Read more and get social links on our tutors page. Tea and coffee is provided, and you are welcome to use our small kitchen. There is a corner shop a short walk away, and parking at the weekend is easily available just outside. We're on the first floor with no lift.
