Creative Collage Workshop
SUNDAY 25th JULY 10am to 4pm Join artist and printmaker Anne Davison for a one day workshop exploring the creative world of collage. This course focuses on the joy of creating your own painted and printed papers from scratch, which you will then transform into a mixed-media composition. Collage is a versatile art form where you can arrange different pieces of paper to create a brand new image. By printing your own paper first, you get to choose exactly how every single piece looks and feels. Under Anne's guidance, you will spend a relaxing day experimenting with ink, learning new relief printing skills, and discovering how to arrange and compose bold, unique designs. What to expect: Anne will guide you step-by-step through the entire creative process. You will explore: • Hand-printing your paper: Learn how to print simple textures and patterns using traditional relief methods. • Fun with mark-making: Experiment with watercolour inks to add rich, fluid textures and intricate patterns to your paper. • Building layers: Discover how to combine and overlap different colours to give your artwork a feeling of depth. • Designing your composition: Learn the best ways to cut, tear, and arrange your printed papers. Anne will show you how to balance shapes with fine details to create a highly individual mixed-media collage. Suitable for: Beginners, you do not need any prior art experience at all, or those looking to free up their creative process. The studio is a warm, encouraging space where everyone can learn and explore at their own pace. What to bring: All materials are included: We provide all the papers, colourful inks, printing tools, and glues. Just bring your curiosity! Please bring an apron or wear old clothes. You may like to bring a packed lunch. Your tutor: Anne Davison is an established artist and printmaker, with a worldwide spread of clients and collectors. She is also an experienced tutor. You can read more about Anne on our Tutors page. Tea and coffee is provided, and you are welcome to use our small kitchen.
