Expressive Drawing
13TH JULY 10.30am to 1pm Practicing artist and researcher Anna Falcini invites you to explore drawing as a tool to connect with the body and mind through expressive, mark making techniques using ink, charcoal, pen, gouache and pencil, onto a variety of papers including Japanese mulberry paper, tracing paper and cartridge papers. What to expect: Anna will introduce a number of drawing processes and will encourage you to respond to natural materials such as nests, bark, stones, shells etc through slow, mindful observation using sensations such as touch and smell, as well as looking at objects. You will be encouraged to create your own unique vocabulary of mark making through approaches to line, tone, and collage techniques. The drawing workshop focuses on drawing as a tool to re-connect with your mind and body without judgement. The pace will be gentle and unrushed with an emphasis on open ended creativity and possibilities rather than rigid outcomes. Anna will suggest a number of starting points for the drawings and will guide you along the way to find your own language for expressive drawings. What to bring: All materials will be provided Suitable for: All levels of skill and experience. About your tutor: Anna Falcini is a multi-disciplinary artist whose creative practice explores the sensory dialogues of the body and the hidden materials of knowledge that are dormant. Read more on our tutors page. Tea and coffee is provided, and you are welcome to use our small kitchen. There is a shop a short walk away, and parking at the weekend is easily available just outside. We're on the first floor.
