Introduction to Interior Design
SATURDAY 30th MAY 10am to 4pm Join local interior designer Ellen from Salthouse Design for a creative and practical day learning the essential elements of interior design - from space planning and colour palettes to styling, fabrics and sourcing. You’ll spend the day exploring the fundamentals of good design in a friendly, relaxed setting, building your confidence and creativity along the way. By the end of the session, you’ll have created your own take-home mood board to help guide your next interior project. The itinerary for the day will include: • Space planning and layout • Inspiration & where to start • Colour palettes • Fabrics, materials and finishes • Art, styling and accessories • Sourcing and shopping Whether you’re planning a home refresh or simply want to understand your own style better, this hands-on workshop will give you clarity and inspiration to move forward with your space. Suitable for: Anyone interested in interior design, no prior experience required. What to bring: • You may like to bring a packed lunch. • Please bring any starting points/inspiration you might have - this could be an image, piece of fabric, artwork etc. However, this is not essential as there will be lots of things to spark your creative inspiration on the day. What you'll take away: • A beautiful mood board • A good understanding of the basics of interior design • Tons of inspiration and tips, samples and sourcing suggestions Your tutor: Ellen Leedham is the founder of Salthouse Design, an interior design studio based in Kent. With a degree in Interior Design and a background in visual styling, Ellen brings a thoughtful and approachable perspective to every project. Her work is grounded in a love of natural materials, layered textures and design that feels effortless yet lived-in. Tea & coffee and provided. There is a corner shop a short walk away, and parking at the weekend is easily available just outside. We're on the first floor with no lift.
