PRINTMAKING: Block print a cushion cover

SUNDAY 5th OCTOBER 10am to 4pm £75 Join us for a full day workshop led by tutor, printmaker, and textile designer Anne Davison. This session will provide an introduction to block printing on fabric, during which you will design and produce your own block-printed cushion cover. What you can expect: You will plan and carve a linoleum block design, which can be used to create a pattern repeat. Various methods for repeating patterns can be explored on paper, before proceeding to print on fabric. The course encourages experimentation in developing patterns. Additionally, Anne has a selection of beautiful Indian carved wood blocks for you to experiment with, and use alongside your own designs. What you'll take away: You will come away from this session with knowledge of the different methods of repeat, the inks involved in printing on fabric and your very own unique hand block printed 50 x 50cm linen cushion cover. You'll also have the knowledge and confidence to continue exploring linocut printing on fabric in your own home or studio. What to bring: • You may like to bring a packed lunch. • Please also bring an apron or wear old clothes. • All other materials included. Suitable for: All skill levels welcome. You may have some experience of linocut printing and want to build on your skills, or this may be your first printmaking. Your tutor: Anne Davison is a well established textile design artist, with a worldwide spread of clients and collectors. She is also an experienced tutor. We're on the first floor with no lift.
