Best of 2025: framing highlights

As we plunge into 2026, we take a moment to reflect on some of our favourite framing jobs from 2025...

Kicking things off with one of our favourite things... neon! There are many ways to include a splash of neon in your frame, whether it's the mount, a spacer, or the frame itself. For this Dalek print, we created a stacked frame, layering neon pink inside a smart black rounded profile.

We were also thrilled to be involved with the framing for Alison Swan's collage artworks, a selection of which were exhibited at the Fishslab Gallery. For these pieces we created very bespoke mounts, drymounting pages from a photo book onto black core mountboard, cutting and placing the artworks so that the mount formed part of the artwork. Definitely a stand-out project.

We do a fair amount of hand-finishing at Creative Frames, and are always happy to get the paints out to mix colours to match artwork, or create bespoke effects. For this limited edition giclee print by Mark Reynolds, part of a series of songs reimagined as film posters, we created a colour matched spatter effect frame. The testing process was, well, a lot of messy fun. The customer loved it so much, he recently bought two more of Mark's posters so that we could frame them in the same style.

Sometimes the ideal framing concept just arrives, fully formed, when a customer shows us a piece. For these two Jane Askey originals, this simple but effect float mount, with a soft muted background and oak frame were the perfect choice, and the black spacer sets the whole thing off. It's a combination that has stuck in our mind.

Another memorable pair were these two prints from the 'Hyperaccumulator' series by Rhys Himsworth, exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer. They are made with crushed lcd screens! Carefully colour matched frames and spacers, and uv protective Artglass to show off the details, was all that was needed.

Colourful things. Whether it's a bold mount that extends the artwork, a stacked frame, or even better - both! We love helping our customers to explore and enjoy colour in their framing choices. Sometimes, showing an artwork off at its best means simple framing to let the artwork speak for itself. Sometimes, it means piling in with plenty of extra colour, and really going for it!
