
CERAMICS: Nerikomi & Marbling
SATURDAY 4th JULY 10am to 1pm £55 Learn one of the most satisfying techniques in ceramics; Nerikomi and Marbling, where contrasting colour and pattern are built directly into the clay itself. In this half-day workshop, you'll blend black and white clays to create striking graphic patterns and using hand building methods, shape the clay into your choice of two items including a mug, small dish, or tile to take home once fired and glazed. No two pieces ever come out the same! What to expect : • Learn or revisit the fundamentals of working with clay • Explore various methods for creating patterns from different colours • Develop hand-building techniques Suitable for: All levels welcome. No previous experience of working with clay is required, but will also suit returning potters, or those looking to add to their skillset. What's included: • Black and white Sibelco clay, • All tools for use on the day • Firing and glazing of two pieces Once your pieces are formed, they will be taken away and professionally fired. Once fired, they will be available to collect from either Faversham or Broadstairs, around four weeks after the workshop. What you’ll take away: • Two Nerikomi style or marbled clay pieces • The skills required to make bold, beautiful and functional ceramics • An infectious love of clay, and all its possibilities What to bring: • Please bring an apron or wear old clothes. • You may like to bring a packed lunch. • All other materials included. Your tutor: Carolina Pik is an Argentinean-Chilean ceramist living and making pots in Margate. Her work is mostly hand-built ceramics, inspired by interior design, Brutalist architecture, maths and geometry. The use of black stoneware clay and white porcelain, often combined with vivid glazes, gives her stunning work a high contrast, dramatic and distinctive style.
















Cancellation Policy
Bookings are non-refundable, but if you do find are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Up to 10 days before the event, you may reschedule your booking, subject to availability. After this time, no refund or cancellation is possible, but you are welcome to pass your booking on to a friend - just let us know. If you do reschedule your booking, this can only be done once in any six month period; subsequent rebookings will need to be paid for again. Please note, some workshops may not be repeated. No refunds or transfers will be given for no-shows.
