PRINTMAKING: Block printing on fabric

SUNDAY 3RD AUGUST 10am to 4pm Join tutor, printmaker and textile designer Anne Davison on this taster workshop which will introduce you to block printing on fabric. What you can expect: You will have the chance to carve your own linoleum block design, which you will use to develop your pattern repeat. In addition, Anne has a range of Indian carved wood blocks you can experiment with in conjunction with your own designs. You will be encouraged to explore different repeating methods to develop your repeat on paper before finally printing on fabric. Anne is very keen for everyone to take a creative and playful approach to pattern! What you'll take away You will come away from this session with knowledge of the different methods of repeat, the inks involved in printing on fabric and a small length of your very own hand block printed design onto a natural fabric. What to bring: • You may like to bring a packed lunch. • Please also bring an apron or wear old clothes. • All other materials included. Suitable for: Beginners, but everyone is welcome. You may have some experience of linocut printing and want to build on your skills, or this may be your first printmaking. Your tutor: Anne Davison is a well established textile design artist, with a worldwide spread of clients and collectors. She is also an experienced tutor. There is a corner shop a short walk away, and parking at the weekend is easily available just outside. We're on the first floor.
